Having been a doctor for over 30 years I finally succumbed to the allure of glass art, trading my stethoscope & prescription pad for a glass cutter and a kiln.
It has been, and continues to be, an enriching journey starting with a simple foiled glass mirror and reaching the joy of playing with hot glass to make a number of different objects from vessels to jewellery to windows.

I focus mainly on kiln formed glass.
This means that I cut and assemble glass pieces then heat them so that they become fuse together to form one piece, which can be shaped by heating it to a lower temperature where glass flows but does not fuse.
Using this method I am able to make vessels of many different shapes, wall panels, jewellery and small sculptures.

This is a unique piece (titled"E on a Pole" was created as a commission for the girl on the Pole. She told me this is a very difficult move and she wanted it captured in glass as wall hanging.
The piece was created in stages that included creating a line drawing which could be fused onto glass then cut out; creating a background panel then fusing all the elements together.
